Spooky Halloween, Check out my graveyard and choppedup fingers!

ByShannon's Mommy:
I started this entry in December, but never got around to finishing it... so it's late by a couple of months, sorry! But I have to say the photos of the kids and the food are great, so this is worth a look-see...!

Our Condo had a Halloween party on 24th Oct. It was supposed to be 31st, but the function room was booked. I'm happy we have some pretty friendly neighbours, so this is actually a annual event. Last year, not much thought went into the food preparation, but this year, we really tried hard to make it a thematic party...and it was overwhelmingly successful.
All the kids came dressed, and almost ALL the girls came as Fairies and Princesses.. not much of a scary costume, but I guess at that age, all girls just aspire to be that. I went as a fat pink pig, even got fattened especially up for the part... :)

Lauren as a fairy
Shannon as a fairy princess

Me as a Fat Pig

Some of the kids
Ghosts, Witches and bumble bees come out today!
Ultraman and a Angel to the rescue!

Don't the kids look adorable!
The food was fanastic, we tried to make it as gooey and gory as possible, check out my Brownie grave yard and chopped up fingers! Not bad for a creative first attempt I think .. :)

And after that, what else but trick-a-treat!

Abino Peacock?I Kid You Not!!!

By Shannon's Mommy:

I haven't blogged in over 6 months! It's gotten to a point where I had to think hard what's the website address to get here, oh boy!

Anyway, want to get off my butt and start the ball rolling again, I realise that its sad when I can't record down all the memories that the two gals and us have been making.... so bear with me while I start my rusty brain and hands moving...

What have we been up to? Well, the latest thing was our 3 day trip to Sentosa from 27 to 29th Nov. I booked us into The Sentosa Resort, formerly known as Beaufort, the place where we had our dream wedding in 2004. Going back to the hotel was great, the place is still beautiful and serene, the service is still top notch and the experience still memorable.

We checked in on the first day, and saw families of peacocks, usual for this peacful and tranquil place. I remember clearly the mommy peacock and the two half grown babies strutting across the lawn when we had our wedding here. So it was nice to see another mommy peacock, this time with three tiny babies , two spotted and one abino, I kid you not! rumaging through the grass.

We spent the afternoon after checking in at the pool, followed by a lesisurely stroll from Tanjong beach to Beach station for dinner. We tried to get tickets for Songs of the Sea but no luck as it was fully sold out! So we bought tickets for Saturday and went back to the hotel lounge for a coffee before hitting the fluffy king sized bed for the night.

On Saturday, we had a lovely buffet breakfast before bringing the kids to the beach. After that, it was more time at the pool before heading to Imbiah for lunch and a try at the Luge. Shannon wanted to try it out, but after seeing that we all had to don one big bulky helmets, she bailed out on me, leaving me stranded, and having to do the Luge all by myslef. It was fun though, and after that we headed back to the hotel for a nap. In the evening we headed for Songs of the Sea before calling it a night

All too soon, Sunday came... we went to Underwater World, and beat the crowds to it. I had a fun time feeding the stingrays, and Shannon was intrigued by the Sea Angels, who strangely enough, reallky looked like little tiny cute fat angels! We walked over to the new Dolphin lagoon and got a rare treat seeing the dolphins do some practise jumps.

After that, we headed back to the hotel for a quiet room service lunch. The hotel surprised me with a birthday cake, and we had sumptious Fried rice and beef kway tiao together with complimentary black forest cake. The food is still sooo yummy....

After a late check out at 3pm, Shannon suddenly announced that she was ready to try the Luge again. I was figuring that she would play me out again, but this time, she went through with it, and had fun doing it, that's my girl! After ice cream in the hot sun, we hauled the kids back into the car, and said goodbye to Sentosa, amid Shannon's waililing ' Iwannna gooo backkkkk..........'

I Will Be True To The Promise I Have Made To You And To The One Who Gave You To Me

I just wanted to touch on the songs which I tagged in this blog.... in particularly the first two. They were part of our wedding and I found them especially meaningful. Both are from Steven Curtis Chapman, a Christian singer.

'We will dance' talks about a couple going through thick and thin together until 'they grow old and their steps grow weak and slow' ....while 'I will Be there' is exactly how I hope our marriage will be, to always be there no matter what happens.

No sun bursts and fireworks and grand notions of romantic love for me thank you! And who cares about Valentime's when its just a hyped up commerical event for flower shops and restaurants to dig into your pocket.

I just want a love and marriage that will stand the test of time, and grow deeper with each passing year. I love the songs because the lyrics are all about just that.. growing old together and going through thick and thin. Sure there will be ups and downs, and there will be more times when we'll be screaming our heads off at each other (lost count on the no. of times that happened!), but ultimately, it just come down to us, through the years, until we are old and grey and wrinkled.

Love You, Dear.

We Will Dance

I've watched the sunrise in your eyes

And I've seen the tears fall like the rain

You've seen me fight so brave and strong
You've held my hand when I'm afraid

We've watched the seasons come and go
We'll see them come and go again
But in winter's chill, or summer's breeze
One thing will not be changin

'We will dance
When the sun is shining
In the pouring rain
We'll spin and we'll sway

And we will dance
When the gentle breeze
Becomes a hurricane
The music will play
And I'll take your hand
And hold you close to me
And we will dance

Sometimes it's hard to hold you tight
Sometimes we feel so far apart
Sometimes we dance as one
And feel the beating of each others hearts

Some days the dance is slow and sweet
Some days we're bouncing off the walls
No matter how this world may turn
Our love will keep us from fallin'

And we will dance
When the sun is shining In the pouring rain
We'll spin and we'll sway
And we will dance

When the gentle breeze
Becomes a hurricane
The music will play
And I'll take your hand
And hold you close to me
And we will dance

The music will play
And I'll hold you close
And I won't let you go
Even when our steps
Grow weak and slow
Still I'll take your hand
And hold you close to me
And we, will dance

I Will Be There

Tomorrow morning if you wake up and the sun does not appear
I will be here
If in the dark, we lose sight of love
Hold my hand, and have no fear'
Cause I will be here

I will be here
When you feel like being quiet
When you need to speak your mind
I will listen And I will be here
When the laughter turns to cryin'
Through the winning, losing and trying
We'll be together
I will be here

Tomorrow morning, if you wake up
And the future is unclear
I will be here

Just as sure as seasons were made for change
Our lifetimes were made for these years
So I will be here

I will be here
And you can cry on my shoulder
When the mirror tells us we're older
I will hold you
And I will be here

To watch you grow in beauty
And tell you all the things you are to me
I will be here
I will be true to the promise I have made
To you and to the One who gave you to me

Tomorrow morning, if you wake up And the sun does not appear
I will be here Oh, I will be here.

Looks like a Gangster???

By Shannon's Mommy:

Finally, all the scrambling is done... I have been up to mischief again, so poor Mal and his wallet! Been dying to get some R & R ever since L came, and after hearing about J's poor niece and her sister's trip to Turkey and back again, we are starting to doubt whether we REALLY wanna go Canada in September with a rowdy 3 year old and a cranky 5 month old.

So anyway, I went searching for a cheap holiday getaway and found a good deal to Phuket... Tiger Airways was selling their tickets at $100 for a return trip ($150 when you add all the extra charges that they can think of charging you!) and Hilton hotels worldwide was having a 50% January Sale!

So for just slightly over S$1k, the whole family is off to Phuket in April. It could have been under 1k, but we decided to splurge a bit and chose a Deluxe Plus Seaview Room (62sqm) at the Hilton... really worth it right?

Only after we had decided on this did I realise that L doesnt have a passport! A mad scramble followed, applying for her passport online immediately. Luckily, it's done now, and we are picking it up on Monday.

Check out her passport photo as compared to S. ... Not as 'gung ho' as S', which my mum constantly grumbles 'looks like a gangster!'

Lauren followed by Shannon... does she really look like a gangster in the photo?
